An eclectic and versatile musician (conductor, pianist, composer, orchestrator), Gioele Muglialdo has mastered the styles of a wide and multifaceted repertory that ranges from classical music (instrumental, chamber, symphonic, and opera) to musicals, film scores, and even American music bordering on jazz. He graduated from the “G. Verdi” Conservatory with a diploma in Composition and Conducting. He specialized in conducting with various teachers from the Russian school, including Yuri Ahronovitch. He won the second prize at the “IV International Cours and Competition” of Budapest, where he conducted the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra. For years, he regularly attended Nello Santi’s opera productions, an experience esssential to his training. He has conducted many orchestras including: Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, Teatro Regio Orchestra of Turin, “I Pomeriggi Musicali” Orchestra of Milan, Emilia Romagna Regional Orchestra, Italian Philharmonic Orchestra, Teatro Coccia Orchestra of Novara, Teatro Donizetti Orchestra of Bergamo, Rousse State Philharmonic, Thessaloniky State Orchestra, Plovdiver Symphoniker, Orchestra of the “Novaja Opera” Theatre of Moscow, Orchestra Sinfònica Nacional del Perù (under invitation of M° Ernesto Palacio).
On stage, in concert and/or selection he has conducted several other operas including Così fan tutte, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Trovatore, Traviata, Nabucco, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi, Tosca, Cavalleria rusticana, Zanetto, Pagliacci, Manon Lescaut, etc. His interest in all aspects of musical theatre has led him to conduct numerous operettas, including Ball at the Savoy by Abrahàm, with 40 performances on tour in major Italian houses.
As a pianist, accompanying instrumentalists and singers in concert, but also as a soloist, as pianist for courses, competitions, and master classes in Italy and abroad, he has worked with Giuseppe Valdengo, Magda Olivero, Claudio Desderi, Francesca Patanè, Enzo Dara, Daniela Mazzuccato, Armando Ariostini, Masako Deguchi, Sue Patchell, Ignacio Encinas, Dimitra Theodossiu, Nicola Ulivieri, Ildar Abdrazakov, Carlos De Antonis, Luca Canonici. He was the rehearsal pianist for Verdi’s Attila at the “Festival Alejandro Granda” in Lima and collaborated with the Arturo Toscanini Foundation (Teatro Comunale of Modena) working along side the opera directors Stefano Vizioli, Paolo Panizza, Massimo Gasparon.
He has performed in Milan (Teatro dal Verme, Teatro Nazionale, Teatro Smeraldo, “Amici Loggione Teatro alla Scala”); Bergamo (Teatro Donizetti), Turin (Piccolo Regio Puccini, Teatro Alfieri), Trieste (Politeama Rossetti), Piacenza (Teatro Municipale), Teatro Titano of San Marino (conducting Elisir d’amore in cooperation with the 3rd edition of the “Renata Tebaldi International Singing Competition”); Budapest (Italian Culture Institute/Franz Liszt Museum), Munich (Herkules Saal), Nuremberg (Meistersinger Halle); in Japan (Yokohama, Minatomirai Hall and Tokyo, Hokutopia Tsutsuji Hall); Lima (“Auditorio Los Incas,” Museo de la Nación) and many other theaters and music-halls. |
